"Education is incomplete and inadequate if it leaves out God and the moral values that come from revelation of Him. In other words, Christian education is the only complete education."
Dr. J.P. Sanders
President, Columbia Christian College
Columbia Christian College is a fully accredited, four-year liberal arts Christian college where a student can obtain a quality education in an environment which fosters an ardent love for Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
Columbia Bible School began in 1947 because many people in the Portland area believed that there was a need for Christ-centered, value-oriented education. Classes were first held at a church building in Portland. In 1949, the school obtained an eight-acre campus site and the high school program was added. Later, in 1956, the junior college division was created. Finally, through the faith and foresight of many Christians, the dream of a four-year senior college was realized in 1971. In 1975, the College became fully accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges.
The broad objective of Columbia is to assist its students in discovering and developing their God-given potential. The College seeks to guide each student in learning experiences both in the classroom and in the total environment. Columbia aims to help each student be a maturing Christian person who will be a responsible and productive member of society. Columbia strives to motivate every student so that he will continue to learn and mature throughout his lifetime.
Columbia Christian College is the only small four-year fully accredited Christian liberal arts college located in a metropolitan area. The virtues of small size can be, and frequently are, overstated. And yet, invariably, when you talk to someone connected with Columbia – a former student, a current student, an instructor, or administrator – the qualities of Columbia that they consider memorable are more often not linked to the College's size. Being small means being friendly at Columbia.
