COLUMBIA CHRISTIAN COLLEGE is a unique community dedicated to helping students learn to live an abundant Christian life. The College's aim is to produce faith in God and understanding which lead to personal maturity.
The educational philosophy espoused by Columbia Christian is that a full education must take into account the mental social physical, spiritual, and individual needs of the student. In keeping with its purpose and philosophy, the College has brought together those means necessary to reach desired obiec-tives: an academically-trained faculty to advance knowledge; a controlled living environment to encourage healthy social action; physical education facilities and personnel to develop the body; Bible instructors, chapel, and other event to edify the spirit; and counselors to promote personal development.
Columbia feels a real obligation to its students. It subscribes to the theory that a college should be concerned with more than intellectual pursuits. It will not assume that simply filling the mind with facts and training the body in skills can construct a whole man. Columbia's dedication to the abundant Christian life requires a reordering of the normal academic purposes. Fundamental to Columbia's existence as a college is a strong belief in the intrinsic value of a liberal arts education. But Columbia considers how one lives more important than mere memorization of facts. The College is concerned with how one provides for self and family, how one relates to friends and associates, and how one will spend eternity.
THE SON-SHINE COMPANY has become an integral part of the Columbia Christian College admissions program. These four young men, under the direction of Paul King, Vice President for Special Services, have worked and traveled together as representatives of the College since the Spring of 1972. Because of their outstanding performances, requests are received regularly from civic clubs as well as religiously oriented youth groups, camps, and congregations throughout eight western states.
